Congregation Identifies Preferences
for Future Programs
Discipleship Enrichment Survey Results Now In

A big “thank-you” is owed the congregation for its terrific response to the Discipleship Enrichment Survey.  The survey, which recently appeared in “Interpretation” and was also distributed during services a few weeks ago, was designed to identify the “needs/wants/desires” of the congregation with regard to Sunday, weekday and evening programs, activities, and events.

The most popular ideas for future programs proved to be:

Programs related to advancing one’s spiritual journey

    A “Discipleship 101” workshop

    A “bookworm” group

Heritage trips (especially to Scotland, Wales, and England)

Small study groups on topical issues

The most popular times for activities proved to be evenings and/or late mornings, and, in addition to Sundays, the two most popular days of the week for getting together were found to be Monday and Wednesday.

Despite the lengthy “menu” of ideas in the questionnaire, several other program possibilities generated favorable responses, among them: “Discipleship in Action” projects, a Lectio Divina group, a businessmen’s and women’s group, and bible-related seminars.

Clearly, the Discipleship Enrichment Subcommittee has it work cut out.  We’ll now meet in the immediate weeks ahead with the goal of “translating” the congregation’s preferences into an exciting new “portfolio” of programs and activities for the fall and new year.  So stay tuned!
