| Our mission at FriendShip Children's Programs is to
provide our community with a high quality early childhood program that
promotes social, emotional, cognitive and physical development in young
children. We recognize that each child is a unique and special individual.
FriendShip is a happy place that uses play as the primary means to
develop skills and growth, while fostering discovery, friendships and
enjoyment in the preschool experience. |
|
| FriendShip Programs follow the National Association
for the Education of Young Children guidelines and the Accreditation
Criteria and Procedures for the National Academy of Early Childhood
Program. All staff members are CPR certified and have the state required

| For children turning three years of age, our program
welcomes the younger child who is not quite ready for FriendShip I.
Hands on learning is introduced through various activities to toilet
trained children. The children have the chance to learn about the seasons,
animals, ABCs and other themes through art projects, stories, music,
the science table and various centers, individually and cooperatively
in small groups. |
|
| Children have the opportunity to explore and play in the block area,
kitchen, dress-up center, book corner, free art table and at the puzzle
and manipulative shelves. The children also learn about the days of
the week, the weather and are exposed to books and music during circle
time. |
|
|
| FriendShip I is designed for the older three year old
who is fully toilet trained. The class explores a variety of learning
opportunities centered on educational themes. Children learn to work
cooperatively in small and large groups. Additionally, independent
play is encouraged in various block areas, books, drama and dress-up,
sensory stimulation and arts and crafts. The day includes a daily lesson
at circle time which features songs, finger plays, the weather and
calendar. |
|
| The program is enhanced by a weekly Music and Movement class. This
offers the integration of gross motor movement and music in a small
group setting. Musical instruments are studied in a special music program
and the children are introduced to a foreign language in a weekly class. "Miss
Manners" also visits the class to promote proper social behavior. |
|
| This five-day program offers four and five year old
children self-expression via written language skills in our writing
center, using a two approach method: whole language and phonics. Weekly
thematic units, such as the elements of ocean, space, and Australia
are introduced. Math is taught in the following learning centers: cooking,
manipulatives, graphs and chart making. Music and Movement is continued
in FriendShip II. "Miss Manners" visits regularly as well.
An introduction to "Famous Artists and Composers" offers
a unique exposure to the arts along with a weekly foreign language
class. |
