Children
Children's Ministries
Children are very special to us at The Presbyterian Church, Sewickley! We welcome them to Sunday school and vacation Bible school, choirs and activities, holiday celebrations, and church-wide special events! There are many ways to learn about God, God’s wondrous world, and how God wants us to love one another.

Sunday School
Two Years through Fifth Grade
Sundays from 9:50 -10:45 AM
Children age two years through fifth grade study the same Bible story each week with lesson plans especially suited for their age group! We believe our curriculum helps teach our children to weave their faith into their lives. Not just knowing about Him, but also using what we know to make decisions that come our way, to live each day as God intends.
Children 2 years old through Kindergarten meet in the upstairs rooms and learn about Bible stories and important people in the Bible. Their lessons make lasting impressions because the children are actively involved! Each Sunday, they learn Bible truths as they see, hear, touch, taste, and smell all the exciting things that are happening in our classrooms!
First through Fifth graders begin together with Gathering Time in the Dining Room. We eat, sing, make announcements, and pray. Then it's off to our grade level classrooms. As children experience the Scripture and do the activities, they are building that relationship - a friendship with Him - in a real and relevant way.

Children and Worship

Sundays, during 9 AM and 11 AM worship
All children are invited to attend worship with their families during both the 9 AM and 11 AM worship services.

At 9 AM, we have worship "In the Corner." This service is casual with contemporary music as well as favorites from the hymnal. Children enjoy singing the music, sharing the fellowship of Christ, and listening to a full but shorter sermon. Children and youth assist in worship by reading Scripture, offering prayers, and serving as acolytes. This service has become a family favorite.

At 11 a.m. we have a traditional service with a children's conversation during our worship time. Because children think concretely, this time provides a way for them to understand Scripture, a Bible story or Biblical concept by relating it to everyday objects and life-events. Immediately following the children's conversation, the children are dismissed to activities.

Children are vital to our church community! We want our children to have meaningful participation as part of their worship experience, so we include a children’s conversation during our worship time. Because children think concretely, this time provides a way for them to understand scripture or Bible story by relating it to everyday objects and life-events. Immediately following the children’s conversation, the children are dismissed to activities.
Activities are designed to engage children kindergarten through 3rd grade while their parents worship in the sanctuary. From mission projects to cooking, art activities to videos, drama to tableaux, we learn more about Bible stories, the worship service, and our faith.
