DAY ON THE LAWN: A DAY FOR MISSIONS

PWA's biggest project and major annual fundraiser isDay on the Green Lawn: A Day for Missions. This event takes place in September on the Saturday after Labor Day and uses virtually every room in the church as well as the grounds. Hundreds of volunteer hours are contributed to this fun filled day which boasts sales of everything from jewelry to sporting goods to computers, homemade baked and deli treats, kids' activities and the best hotdog's in town! All funds raised go to support a variety of local, regional, national and international missions.

OTHER MISSION PROJECTS

Presbyterian Women also support our missions with hands-on volunteering. Three times a month, three groups of women alternate going to Bethlehem Haven to serve dinner, and we prepare a dinner once a month. We hold a baby shower each spring for Genesis House-some of our members hand made 33 blankets!-and shop once a month for their groceries.

We also shop for HEARTH, a transitional housing program for women and their children, once a year for their needs, and recently gave them a Kitchen Shower. On occasion, we collect items (baseball equipment, old cell phones, toiletries) to fill special requests. Our expanding mission outreach is exciting!

In addition, the PWA's newest inititative is Dining for Women. Also known as "dinner giving circles," this project encourages women to "dine in" with friends and then contribute their "dining out dollars" (money otherwise spent going out to dinner with friends) to mission. We see this project as a way to encourage spiritual fellowship and inspire women of our church to make a difference through the power of colletive giving, "Changing the world one dinner at a time."

This year our funds will go to support the Rural Entrepreneur Access Program (REAP) of the Boma Fund.

PWA FELLOWSHIP EVENTS

The Women's Association initiated the weekly Koinonia Bible Study and the Tree of Memories at Christmas. Over the years we have purchased much needed equipment and furniture for the church, and contributed $20,000 toward the recent kitchen improvements.

We host receptions for New Members, the Confirmation Class, and special events, as well as the Easter Continental Breakfast for the congregation and Chancel Choir Easter Breakfast. We gather each spring for an Evening of Elegance where we honor ladies with PWA life memberships! Three luncheons or dinners are held each year (Fall, December, and May) for PWA members to enjoy fellowship and to learn more about the missions we sponsor.

A Women's Retreat is held off campus each Fall, for faith development, fellowship, and fun!  We invite you to learn more about our Presbyterian  Women's Association and to join us in any or all of these endeavors. You will enjoy the fellowship! Please feel free to contact any of the Board Members if you have questions or would like to become involved.
